Can a 66-year old individual with no retirement or regular income file for a tax return and be eligible for the stimulus package check in May 2008?

How would the tax return be prepared: $0 income?

Thanks.

If you receive social security payments, you would file a 1040A in order to receive your stimulous payment. You’re not filing for income tax purposes - just to be able to receive your stimulous check, which is perfectly fine. Just report what you receive on your 1099-SSA.

One of the requirements for getting a stimulus payment is filing a 2007 return with at least $3000 in eligible income. Eligible income includes income from working, from social security, from railroad retirement, and from some VA benefits.
