sophisticated lady asked:
What was the purpose of him even retiring then and isn’t he too old to be playing? I heard rumors that he loves football more than his own family. Is he crazy??

Ego and money. He couldn’t stand to be out of the limelight and this administration has ruined his 401K.

The one thing about Bret Favre is that he has a true love for the game. He didn’t retire because he is old and his body wouldn’t allow him to play, he did mostly because of family pressure amoungst other inside stress with the team. But Favre would be one of those guys laying in bed at night in 10 years hating that he retired when he was capable of so much more.Go Favre!! Good For Him!!

IDK HES Weird

He did that because he does it every season. He likes the attention and he is also having trouble letting go of the game. I think it is going to ruin his legacy!

Mikey is obviously one of those ill-informed “fans” who looks
at hall-of-fame talents like Favre and figures he should make
$12.5 flipping burgers or cleaning toilets or whatever it is he does,
so calls these athletes belittling names. Favre, on the other
hand, had played 16 full seasons, and his last with the Packers
was statistically one of his best. He wanted to lead the Packers
to another Super Bowl, and like most high quality, competitive
personalities, he could not give up the cheering… The man has
over $100 million, suggesting he game back for the cash is just
bizarre, especially considering (and you can read the CBA pension
levels for yourself, by the way) his pension with this many vested years
pretty much equals his salary! In all likelihood, he will take his new Team to their first playoff run in a very long time. I regret that miserly “bean counters” like Packer GM Ted Thompson were intellectually and emotionally incapable of realizing that Green Bay was better of WITH Favre than WITHOUT him. As a result, Green Bay has a starter and two rookies, which is a very touchy situation, especially since Rodger’s health record is not particularly good. By the way, QB’s in the NFL have played into their 40’s fairly often, and as recently as last year. So NO, he is NOT too old to play, or he wouldn’t be starting with the Jets. By the way, the talk I hear in Wisconsin is very simple: Rodgers is excellent, we knew that; Favre was and IS extremely popular, and only a few **** types who slavishly follow the GM mimic the ignorance reflected above; and we have NO experienced talent at backup QB. That boils down to: if Rodgers gets hurt,
Ted Thompson best find another job, preferably NOT in football. Most serious students of the game think he rejected Favre’s unretirement because he wanted the lowest payroll in the NFL, which he now HAS. But “bean counters”, suitable for drug stores, don’t do well in competitive sports.
