A co worker of mine is retiring today and I haven’t got her anything- what is a good idea?

    Create a video blog…instantly.

A gift certificate for a book store or a local theatre. Or pay for her to take a class for something you’d think she’d enjoy (cooking, dancing, painting, photography… heck, even a sportsmans course if shes into that sort of thing.) Make sure it’s open ended. She might want a few weeks to kick back and take baths all day but after a while that boredom is going to kick in and she’s going to want to get busy doing something!
