Retiring with dignity is a personal and vague term.

If this is important to you and impossible to acheive, then…isn’t your answer obvious? You retire without dignity or you don’t retire.

Yes, it’s important to me. The key is to not wait until you’re 65, and say, “What do I do now?”

I’m in my mid-thirties, mapping out a retirement strategy.

There’s an old saying, “No one plans to fail, but many fail to plan.”

Leave quietly. Plenty of people work decades for a company, and leave with “too much history” .

Don’t imagine or envision a retirement ceremony or departure. Politely thank those colleagues who made your job better. Ignore the problem “children” and move on to the next phase of life. Clean up your workspace, leaving behind the items that belong to the company.

There is so much out there for you. Don’t bring along baggage full of resentment and bitterness.

Good luck on your next chapter….

Who wouldn’t want to retire with dignity? I not only can tell you I wanted it, but that I actually did it. I didn’t have enough when I reached 62 so I got on the Internet and found information on how to solve my problem, now I have enough coming in to be quite comfortable and it gets better every day. yes, because at the age of 62-65, i do not want stand at wal-mart bagging for someone else. you could do anything with liitle amount of money.that why you have to save consistent. the old story the turtoise and the hare still true today
I laways set aside about 15% of my gross pay to my saving. spending is if I can come up with the hard cash
At the age of 33, I already save 72000.00 in 401 k and 30000.00 taxable account. and still saving. the thought of standing at wal-mart in old age make me sick.

Time is the most importtant factor, if you do not have time you got toasted.

I can do it, you can too
