With people retiring in record amounts and withdrawling their earnings from IRA’s, 401k’s to fund retirements makes me wonder if there are enough people putting money into the market keep it afloat. If more people are selling than buying, then it will decline in value right?

Someone I care a great deal about is on the verge of buying into a small business. I know the individual exreamly well and am certain this will be a disaster for both the business and their family. A couple hundred-thousand dollars is the cost to buy in to become co-owner of the service business. I don’t want to see this person loose that much money over a mid-life crisis notion to own their own business.

What can I possibly say or do to convince them that while owning your own business is a dream that everyone has, it is not meant to be fulfilled by everyone.

Th current owner has glorified his business and essentially suckered my friend into thinking that owning and operating the business is a walk in the park. In addition, the owner is planning on retiring (and moving to another country) in a few years. Why can’t my friend see that the current owner is just trying to get top dollar for his business then leave it all on the new guy.. What can I do to persuade him?

Sorry, might be a stupid question, but I’m 17, and don’t know anything about that. I know that you can put part of your retirement investments into more risky funds, but isn’t some of it (probably most of it), put somewhere where you WILL make money, since lots of people cannot take a risk with that type of thing???

Personally, I just don’t think that far in advance, because I could be dead by then, but just HOW important is saving for retirement.

Worst case scenario, if you have no plan, money, friends or family by then, will you end up being a homeless senior citizen, where do you technically end up?

I’m not familiar with the programs this country has, if any.

I’d like to start planning something, however it makes life SO monotone, everything is a plan. work, schooling, shopping, retirement,

it takes the FUN out of living. Blah.
