<a href="http://mycaffeinatedcontent.com">Create a video blog</a>

Was a policeman. Started a meter maid, then patrolman, then detective, then Sgt.I learned more than the average person would ever want to know but it was a good experience.

Learned that there is no black and white. There are good people in bad situations that do wrong. Also learned that there are bad people that do good but not as much as the other. Learned you have to back off a little on your kids even though you've seen what being lax with them can do.

Your kids aren't suspects and eventually you learn to lighten up some. Once I retired, I think my kids and wife liked me more. It was a job and after a while I learned it wasn't a lifestyle. Took me a long time to become more patient with others and finally got to the point that life is way too short to worry about a lot of BS things.

It was a good lesson for me but unfortunately, I went right back into a similar field and actually deal more with psyches, addicted folks, drunks and fighters than I did on the street. Now it is just tempered a little with folks that are dying and their relatives. When I was working on the Police department, you didn't get into that too much.

But you got do what you can to make ends meet and get insurance. Just don't have to be as authoritative as I used to be and that's a good thing.

Police, so still tend to look for the bad in people. Years ago I was out with my non police brother in law and saw a man creeping up a hedge no doubt to commit a crime...my brother in law pointed out that he was just picking blackberries. Old habits die hard. I do envy you seeing the best in people..

<a href="http://kansieo.com">Create a video blog...instantly.</a>

I was a Registered nurse. During my career I worked in several different arenas of nursing. Labor and Delivery was wonderful, becoming a really good spinal cord injured persons nurse was also wonderful. the rest not so much.
What I learned was as time when on and health care became a for profit business I could no longer tolerate restrictions of time spent with a patient who needed it and would benefit greatly from it. I could not tolerate watching half***** care because of inadequate staffing, lack of necessary equipment,(didn't fit into the budget), and other changes. One particular specialty ICU nurse I knew Who has been a type 1 diabetic since she was 8, is probably the best nurse this hospital has in that ICU. The hospital went to mandatory 12 hour shifts which she could only work one shift, then have a day off. Then all she had time for was to rejuvenate so she could work the next one. She was forced. I kept telling her she had a cause of action, but hasn't pursued it for fear of losing her job. She is now shortly to have a double transplant of kidney and pancreas, She continues to work while she waits. To me that is criminal. It is not just about her, in high stress disciplines, a 12 hour shift is too long and the performance suffers as a result. That is what I learned! GRRRR, And mark my words, it will only get worse!

I also worked with dual diagnosed people. It was so beneficial to me.Loving people who were different but the same in so many ways. Prior to that I worked with a beautiful woman who taught me to be a florist. She would love each individual flower. She would look at one and say look how He made this. I truly learned to appreciate the details of everything and the power and grace in people.

I worked in an all male prison before I retired. Each day was a learning experience for me. It was one of the most interesting jobs I've ever had. Many of the things I learned are still with me, especially when it comes to always being aware of my surroundings when I'm in public, especially when I'm in a mall parking lot, etc. The self defense classes I took yearly were worth their weight in gold. I still practice them from time to time. One never knows when that training will come in handy.
