Retirees and Baby Boomers Turn Internet Errors to Cash?

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009
John Reed asked:

Many retirees and baby boomers face rising costs that cut into their life’s plans. So, often times many have returned to work. Unfortunately, as stated before, the job market isn’t all that great right now, making job searches a much more competitive event.

Finding means to offset unavoidable rises in expenses becomes key to living comfortably.

Finding that the types of available jobs often require heavy lifting or large amounts of walking, retirees often turn to the Internet as a means of earning extra money to offset living costs.

Turning to websites like http://www.TypoBounty.com, retirees are earning extra money online to pay those costs that seem to appear out of nowhere in one’s golden years. Typobounty.com allows retirees to earn money by locating and reporting errors they observe on websites.

Retirees are paid over 2 dollars per valid error report. Errors such as misspelled words, incorrect punctuation, poor grammar, lack of clarity and many more types of errors are all up for grabs.

The Internet is full of errors, and with their life experiences, retirees are well suited for spotting those types of errors. Using nothing more than their observation skills and a free TypoBounty.com hunter account, retirees are able to make ends meet by using what they know.

Whether one calls it being forced into retirement, laid off, being offered a package, or just plain fired, the effects are still the same for many. The funds coming in are affected and the cost of essential items becomes more of an issue. The Internet is becoming an excellent tool for seniors to show they still can contribute in a technology hyped world. In fact they compete against others on the site.

“To have an affect on something as technological as the Internet is a wonderful thing”,. says Jennifer Watson. “Retirement does not mean we are done or that we don’t have anything left to contribute. It means that we have more time to contribute.”

An error free internet is the goal.

How Much Money Is Up For Grabs? Using a popular search engine, we found that if you misspell the word “receive” as “recieve” in a popular search engine and search it. You find that the misspelled word “recieve” is found on 14,800,000 web pages. If you make it past tense by adding “ed”, you see an additional 15,300,000 web pages are found. If you add the suffix “ing” to get “recieving” you find an additional 2,990,000 web pages with that flaw. If you add the suffix “er” you are given an additional 224,000 web pages with errors. If each of the site owners were told by you of TypoBounty.com and offered a $2.00 bounty on the errors on their website, that would total $66,628,000 that is up for grabs, for paying your bills. Just report them through TypoBounty.com. That’s just one root word. Try to imagine the number of other errors that exist online in spelling, punctuation, grammar etc.

Retirees using TypoBounty.com and search engines can do pretty well for themselves.

Other online opportunities for retirees exist but few present such a clear path for using their acquired assets more efficiently.

Internet and Retirees

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009
Michele Rogers asked:

Ok, when we were kids, the terms PC or Home Computer or even Laptop where not words yet. A computer in the home? The thought of that was absurd. The computers would never fit. They were huge.

Now a day the retirees are more and more become internet surfers. They are finding out that they can surf, buy, read the new and many other things on the internet. Many major grocery chains even have at home delivery. One can simply order online their food and have it delivered to their front door.

By learning the internet from a young person you may have some hard times understanding their terminology. Take time and enroll in a class. They are there and better to help you with your learning. Many youngsters get impatient with older people, they don’t understand that it’s like a fish out of water to many.

Don’t hesitate to surf the internet and read all your “HELP” categories with your programs you purchase for your computer. If you bought a Word program for typing, or maybe you are writing a book, read the help and don’t be afraid of making errors. It happens to the best of us.

The books at books stores are vast on intro to computers and if you want a book that is an aid for you the series of “FOR DUMMIES” books are the best. The will point you in the right direction and foremost and the most important thing, don’t hesitate to ask the people at the book store some questions too.

Internet for Retirees

Monday, August 10th, 2009
Nancy Stetson asked:

Retirement can be fun and scary all at the same time. It can also get, well, kind of boring. So what is the new retiree to do with all that newly founded free time? Before, retirees had to discover ways to keep busy from a limited number of options, but now, with the introduction of the internet the world is wide open.

From home based opportunities to internet games retirees can now find new opportunities on the internet. The more interesting of these options is the home based internet business and more and more seniors are getting involved.

Affiliate marketing and on line advertising are starting to gear more and more towards baby boomers and because of this it makes home based internet businesses a wonderful way to reach seniors and address their needs. Who better to do this then the seniors themselves?

Home based internet businesses are easy to set up if you have the right guidance. There are companies such as this one who cater in part to seniors. It is important when deciding to do an internet business of any kind to find people to guide you whom you can trust. This is doubly important when your business is to be home based because this tends to make it that much more personal.

Seniors today are stronger and more self-sufficient then they have ever been. They are living longer and retiring younger so there is a whole crowd out there with a lot of time on their hands and just as much ambition as always. It is this cross section of the population who are now getting into home based internet businesses. It is this cross section of the population who are now showing their younger counterparts that they can do anything that anyone else can do.

One of the newer services that has cropped up for seniors are search engines and websites geared towards them and their needs. In Australia there is Grey path, an internet portal just for seniors. These types of services are appearing everywhere and they make it easier for retirees to surf the web. So how can a retiree use these types of services to their benefit? How about using them to showcase your internet business?

Seniors know what seniors need. Retirees know what appeals to retirees. So why not discover your passion in a home based internet business and then use what you know about yourself to help fellow retirees? The internet is offering a chance for you to open your own door to the world and invite fellow retirees into your services. So what is stopping you?

Don moved to Canada when he retired. He wanted to move to the place he had spent his summers while he had worked. One of the things Don noticed however when he and his wife moved north was that there were very few websites that catered to the retiree who wanted to relocate to Canada. There were hundreds that catered to younger folks, businesses and even those who were unhappy with US politics but the number of sites for seniors or retirees were limited. Don and his wife decided that when they got settled they would fill that void. It was that simple for Don, the world needed a service and he could provide it right from his desk never leaving the room. After about a year Don began taking on advertisers, at the request of his wife who saw the potential, and now he makes money providing the very information he had needed only several years before. Don’s story is what it is all about, this retiree exodus to the internet. More and more retirees are seeing the benefits of not only using the internet but also helping their fellow retirees and making money to boot thus supplementing their retirement income.

One of the nicer things about creating a home based internet business is that husbands and wives can do it together. This is especially important to seniors and retirees who may be spending a lot time together for the first time in their lives. A home based internet business allows a couple to work together while still being able to enjoy their retirement home. Most folks don’t want to spend their retirement working but do want to keep busy so what a great compromise internet home based businesses are. Of course there is nothing to say that you could not make a tremendous amount of money with a home based internet service. There are many people who find that they are making many times more the money they were making with this type of setup and the opportunities are endless when it comes to the internet. All you need is the basic skills and of course the drive to succeed.

Opportunities for Retirees in Affiliate Marketing

Monday, August 10th, 2009
Albert Hannans asked:

Many people view retirement as a time to seek fresh directions and find new challenges. They search for meaningful ways to use their time and/or earn extra cash. But quite often they are unaware of opportunities in affiliate marketing. So for those retirees looking for a stimulating money-making activity that involves helping others, I highly recommend that they consider starting a home-based affiliate marketing business.

The increasing use of the internet has created tremendous opportunities for home-based internet marketing entrepreneurs. In fact, when the right strategies are employed, internet marketing businesses can be quite profitable. Many people who have found success as internet entrepreneurs had no previous business training or experience when they began. And affiliate marketing happens to be one of the most popular businesses chosen by people starting a home-based online business.

Affiliate marketing is a business model that involves promoting a product owned by another merchant in return for a commission. The affiliates don’t have to deal with activities relating to things such as order fulfillment, shipping, or keeping an inventory. The merchant takes care of all those details. So affiliates are only concerned with promoting the products. That means they don’t have to spend a huge sum of money to set up the business. Another thing that makes affiliate marketing so appealing is its flexibility – affiliates can work anytime that they wish. The business can be a full-time or part-time endeavor.

Nevertheless, don’t assume that making big bucks in affiliate marketing is an easy task. It requires lots of hard work and persistence. To be successful you need to learn how to find the best companies and products to promote, and gain a clear understanding of effective techniques for promoting the products. Fortunately, however, there are some very good resources available to help you figure out how to start your business and what to do in order to succeed.

Many, many different types of companies that do business on the Web rely on internet marketing to increase sales. Big brand-name companies like Dell, Discover Card, Sony and the New York Times use affiliate programs to promote their products online. For any product you can think of there’s probably an affiliate program where you can earn commissions. So you’re sure to find an affiliate program that’s in line with your personal interests.

Once you join an affiliate program you must think of yourself as a problem solver. That’s because your task is to help people who want the product you’re promoting find the answers they are looking for. Affiliate marketers must leverage the strengths of the internet to provide people with useful information about something they are searching for. They’re simply helping people meet their specific consumer needs.

Retirees possess valuable communication and problem solving skills from years of experience in the workforce. Now they can put those skills and experience to effective use by starting a home-based online business and take advantage of the exciting opportunities in affiliate marketing.

Gratitude Will Improve a Retiree’s Outlook on Life

Friday, August 7th, 2009
Dr. Cynthia Barnett asked:

Thanksgiving week is a perfect time to think about gratitude and to be thankful for the people and the events that have made our lives what they are. But gratitude, practiced daily – all year through – will improve anyone’s outlook on life. When we stop dwelling upon things in our lives that are not perfect or things we’d like to be different, our entire outlook on life changes. Gratitude makes each day better.

There was a wonderful song in one of the great old holiday movies. The refrain included this line: “when I’m worried and cannot sleep, I count my blessings instead of sheep, and I fall asleep counting my blessings.” It is very easy to be grateful when everything is going well. Many of us find it very difficult to be grateful when we are facing challenges or struggles in life. But gratitude helps us see each day differently.

Because Thanksgiving encourages us to be grateful, this is an ideal time to start a habit of gratitude. Here are five areas of life in which we should all be able to find reasons for gratitude.

1. Family. Our families are probably the most important group of people in our lives. Our families may seem perfect, or they may seem far from perfect. But all of us are the individuals we have become, at least in part, because of the influence of our families. If you think about it, you will be able to find something about your family – even being taught a difficult lesson – that inspires some measure of gratitude.

2. Friends. Our friends bring us joy. Friends also challenge us to be the very best we can be. One of the most wonderful things about friendship is that our friends choose to be part of our lives. Think about your friends and the richness they bring to your life. You are sure to find a few reasons to be grateful.

3. Opportunities. Life brings us many opportunities. Most of us are quick to act on opportunities and make the most of them. But it is very easy to become so wrapped up in the activity that we forget to stop and be grateful for the opportunities that have come our way and that continue to come our way. Think about your opportunities.

4. Challenges. Life also brings each of us challenges. Whether we overcome challenges, cope with challenges, or find ourselves defeated by challenges, our lives and our personalities are shaped by them. Gratitude for the challenges of life is difficult. It is easier, however, if we begin with challenges of time past. Think about those events and what you learned from them or how you grew as a result of them. Then, after a little practice, try to find gratitude for the challenges of the moment and try to think about what you will learn from them. The dark cloud might have a silver lining if you look for it.

5. Life. Daily life can and should fill us with wonder and gratitude if we can learn to open ourselves to it. When we stop to think and pay attention to the world around us and to the people we encounter, there are many things to be thankful for in each new day. Try living one day with your eyes and ears – and your heart – open to the world around you. I can almost guarantee you will find sources of gratitude.

I hope this Thanksgiving season will be the beginning of a new life in gratitude for every retiree. It is easy to get bogged down in the things that are not perfect. But cultivating gratitude for each day and for the events and the surroundings of each day can help us become happy just the way we are.

How To Make Money Online As A Retiree

Friday, August 7th, 2009
James Lowe asked:

When you are retired you have a great opportunity to make internet income.

After all, you will have lots of time, as you need it, in order to make sure that you are a success. Versus other people that try to make money online, you will not have to work a time and energy consuming job in order to stay afloat financially. You will be able to make this work to your advantage, and be making money before you ever thought possible. Listed below are some tips that you should follow if you are retired and thinking about making money online.

1. The first thing you need to do is make sure that you have enough knowledge of the internet to be successful. Some of you retirees never used the internet in the past. If you do not have online experience there is no reason to give up on your entrepreneur goal. Simply get connected and start dabbling.

For assistance, to get your feet wet, you may want to purchase a book or two on getting started online. These will give you fundamental information on the internet, and what you need to know to begin. You may also want to take a course at a local college. This is an excellent way to get first hand instructions from a professional.

2. When you are ready to go, the next step that you need to take is to make a decision as to how you want to make money. Would you like to start an online business? Do you want to use affiliate programs to get started?

Some retirees have found that the easiest way to make internet income is to bring their past work knowledge into their venture. This way they already have knowledge of the industry. This is a great option that you should consider for a quick start.

3. After getting your business idea focused in, you need to set up a business and marketing plan. This will help keep you on track during your quest to make income online. By having a business plan in place you will then be able to stay on track no matter what is thrown at you. A marketing plan is imperative so that people know you exist.

4. Be patient when trying to build a business online. Just like anything else in life, you are going to run into problems along the way, and you will probably feel like giving up. By sticking with your plan, you will reach your goals much sooner than making many direction changes along the way.

Overall, many retired people can make a lot of online income. If you are desirous of being in this situation, you will want to follow the tips above in order to get started. By doing so you will be on track to making critical extra retirement income online, and be supplementing your retirement benefits.

Retirees Go for the Goldilocks Lifestyle in Prescott

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009
Scott Baxter asked:

What makes Prescott Arizona a drawing card for thousands of retirees? Named one of the best places to retire by Money Magazine Prescott is winning people over time and time again naturally - with its weather.

“See, at 5000 feet elevation, here in the Prescott area we avoid the sweltering heat of the desert valleys or the ice pack conditions of neighboring Flagstaff at 7000 feet.” Says Scott Baxter, Arizona real estate agent with Realty 2000. Life in Prescott is temperate on all fronts, a phenomenon Baxter calls the Goldilocks lifestyle: not too hot, not too cold, but just right.

Understandably, anyone who’s spent their entire working lives in the wintery north will find Prescott’s warm dry climate a hands down winner. Low cost of living, low crime rate, small town sensibility and convenience are also selling points for those who choose to kick back here.

“I had a client of mine mention how Prescott has grown just enough to have a few of the major shopping venues like Costco, Target, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Dillard’s Department Store, and the new Lowes and Kohl’s Department Store soon to be completed, without become too urban and busy,” he says, “I told him the shopping was much like the climate - just right.”

But being just right for so many tastes doesn’t keep Prescott itself from being exceptional. With 637 buildings listed in the National Register of Historic places, Prescott Arizona has some great stories to tell. The area known as Whiskey Row was a notorious red light district right up until 1956. And Prescott still likes to throw a good party: Frontier Days, the Bluegrass Festival, Earth Day, Tsunami on the Square, Cinco de Mayo, Shakespeare Festival, Prescott Film Fest, the Acker Music Festival, The Cowboy Poets Gathering, and the Prescott Highland Games are just some of the annual celebrations.

What is the fastest way to earn a masters or docterate while working at the same to pay for college?

tigerbullandlillyofthevalley asked:

I have yet to decide what career I wish to follow but plan to support myself and would prefer to not have to take out a student loan. health (healing and recovering from long term effects of autoimmune disorder) and MOSTLY family situations (parents retiring and need my help) being unpredictable sometimes I won’t have a guarantee at a routine to keep up with regular classes. Some of the more general classes I know I can test at the beginning of a semester and pass without having to attend a class I finished highschool doing that to graduate on time after being sick from gastroporesis(4.0 G.P.A. ;D). More specifically though I thought if perhaps I studied for the classes I can test for pass them and do the rest mostly online all year long (which can sometimes be less scedule restricting) I could do work and studying the rest of my time. I’m 20 hear it takes 7-10 years to get this level of education so the sooner I can start the better.
